How to Trim Different Types of Palm Trees

The process of trimming a palm trees is different from the usual process. Palm trees require low maintenance and are perfect for the home owners that do not have that much time for gardening.

There is wide variety of palms ranging from small to very tall ones. The most important thing to know after fertilizing these plantations is how to perform trimming for its aesthetics. There is no seasonal routine for this task. By knowing technique of palm tree trimming you can have a beautiful and attractive yard.

Let us have a look at these techniques-

Trimming sago palms: They require quite a bit of cutting per year. Most of these plants shed their damage fronds, sago plants normally take long time to shed the dead and the damaged fronds connected to it, which may affect the health of the rest of the plant.

To cut the branches of such kind of plants, wear gardening gloves is critical, as the dead fronds have thorns at their tips that can cause an itchy rash, if you perform cutting with naked hands. Now, using gardening tools to cut away these damaged parts, you need to start from the bottom and then move upwards.

Trimming queen’s palms: This is another variety of this family that requires cutting few times every year. Trimming of such kind of plants is more difficult than that of sago tree, as these tend to grow quite tall.

To thin a queen tree cutting of only lower branches (that is dead completely without damaging the trunk of the plant) is performed by the Tree Trimming Services providers. It needs a ladder to remove the upper fronds. You may need combination of ladders to cut the extremely tall branches.

Trimming pony tail palms: The process of pony tree’s cutting is quite simple as compared to the previous ones. These plantations remain quite short, although they can grow excess in height as well. They have thin delicate fronds and not as tough as other varieties of this family. You can cut the fronds just by using a pair of scissors. First, pull the damaged parts, (many times fronds will come loose just by slightly pulling on the frond), if it doesn’t work then scissors can be used to trim the frond near to the trunk.

Palms are the beautiful additions to any landscape, but they require proper care for healthy growth and attractive outlook. So you need to get in touch professionals to maintain them in a vigorous state.
